Green Bay Harvest Manuka Honey - not worth buzzing about

Green BayHarvest. Well what can I say? I used to love their Manuka Honey but I've since found sweeter, purer, rawer honey that's simply buzzing with natural goodness and rated higher on the UMF scale meaning its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties are stronger and more efficient.

Don't get me wrong. There was a time when I'd scrape every last bit of Green Bay Harvest Honey out of the jar, spreading it across my toast in the morning and adding a dollop to my natural yoghurt after supper. It truly was the best source – until I discovered the sublime J Friend and Co Manuka Honey at The Good Life Letter Shop.

My, did my taste buds have to adapt! By stuffing myself with Green Bay Harvest honey, I'd deprived myself of the rich, lasting sweetness and wholesome flavour that a New Zealand honey is all about!

I switched to The Good Life Letter's J Friend and Co Manuka Honey instantly. Gone were the days when Green Bay Harvest honey was a regular part of my Good Life diet.

No longer would I make Green Bay Harvest honey sandwiches, watch as a swirling vortex of tea sank a Green Bay Harvest honey lump to the bottom of the mug, glaze my pastries with Green Bay Harvest honey or use Green Bay Harvest honey to drizzle over my specialty walnut, pear, Caesar and cheddar salad.

I thought I'd cleared my kitchen of the stuff until I stumbled upon a secret stash I'd hidden behind the bags of potatoes in the cupboard under the sink.

I'd left the Green Bay Harvest honey there for a good old time and was shocked to see it had crystallised! Now, I know this is common with Manuka honey and I can't quite recall just how long I'd left the batch under my sink but suffice it to say that it was no longer in its original gooey good-to-drizzle form!

I also realised recently that as much as I used to love Green Bay Harvest honey, they only stock the one variety. The Good Life Letter Shop, on the other hand, has a plentiful supply of honey from Manuka honey to Beechwood honey and even Thyme honey! So whatever I decide to rustle up in the kitchen, I know there's a honey that'll compliment whatever's on my plate.

With so many wonderful honey varieties out there, I simply couldn't restrict myself to one variety. The Good Life Letter - a twice weekly healthzine has even written about the many different kinds on offer so you can satisfy your taste buds whatever they crave – read about them here!

So it's a bitter sweet end for Green Bay Harvest honey from me I'm afraid. If I'm not 100% convinced something is going to enhance my Good Life, it's not going to pass my lips.

Keep up-to-date with all the latest health and wellbeing ramblings here and let's enjoy The Good Life together.
